Dead by Daylight is about to get a new crossover that might catch some fans off guard: it’s teaming up with Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Announced through Assassin’s Creed’s social media, the update is set for May 27, promising a fresh quest that blends the eerie Fog with the stealthy world of Shadows.
The teaser shows protagonists Naoe and Yasuke sitting by a bonfire, while a ghostly armored figure surrounded by scarlet flames watches from the shadows. It’s a striking image that hints at the atmosphere players might expect in this collaboration.
Ubisoft had mentioned that Shadows would feature “special collaborations” in its post-launch updates, and this seems to be the first. What this crossover will include remains a mystery, but it’s an unexpected pairing.
Assassin’s Creed has a history of mixing things up in surprising ways. For example, in Assassin’s Creed Origins, players could accidentally free the antagonist from Final Fantasy XV and then ride on a camel-chocobo hybrid wielding a sword and shield straight out of Final Fantasy. It’s so outlandish that it even made it onto PC Gamer’s list of the most historically inaccurate Assassin’s Creed moments.
While Dead by Daylight has hosted some unusual crossovers before, including Lara Croft, Geralt, and even Nic Cage (which is debatable), I’m not sure Naoe and Yasuke would fit as survivors in the Fog. Unless Yasuke transforms into a fiery ghost samurai, that is.
Seeing how this crossover plays out when it launches will be interesting. What do you think about this pairing? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
