Dead By Daylight Crossplay and Cross-Progression: What You Need to Know

Dead By Daylight supports full crossplay and cross-progression across most platforms with some exceptions.

Dead By Daylight has kept its spot as a fan favorite for nearly a decade now. The big question for many players? Whether you can team up or face off with friends on different consoles. Yes, the answer is yes, and it has been possible for a few years now.

Crossplay was added in August 2020, allowing gamers on Steam, Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch to join matches together. Later on, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 joined the party too. The feature also includes Cross-Friends, allowing you to add buddies from any platform to your friends list. Pretty sweet, right?

Crossplay wasn’t always part of the game since its launch in 2016, but it quickly became a core feature after its introduction. The developers have continually improved it, with the latest updates making it smoother and more reliable.

Cross-Progression Details

Here’s where it gets even better: Dead By Daylight supports cross-progression, meaning your profile, progress, and inventory carry over no matter which platform you play on—this feature officially launched in July 2024, which is pretty recent.

However, there’s a catch, Nintendo Switch players don’t get shared paid currency or DLC across platforms. That’s a bummer if you own content on other consoles. Will this change with the rumored Nintendo Switch 2? Nobody knows yet. If an enhanced version of the game is released for the new hardware, perhaps those limits will be lifted. Fingers crossed!
