The current iteration of Dead by Daylight from Behaviour Interactive is running its 2v8 mode now, extended through Tuesday, September 9, 2025 with set match times. The event introduces a ‘Play While You Wait’ mechanic and a fresh set of event rewards that alter the experience of matchmaking and progression.
The live period runs until the date above and lists precise start and end times for different regions. A new Play While You Wait feature allows players queued as killers to play survivor matches while they wait to drop in as killers, though certain behavior around queue priority remains unclear. The patch notes confirm the queue position is kept after the secondary game, but they don’t explain what happens if the queue reaches the front during that match. Reported realm rotation adds Treatment Theatre, The Shattered Square, and Greenville Square for this iteration.
The event hands out two new badges and a charm for completing 2v8-specific quests. The Life of the Party Dwight badge requires four event quests, Claudette’s Sharing Time needs eight, and the Gory Pinata charm unlocks after twelve quests. Gameplay in 2v8 departs from standard matches: perks are disabled, and survivors pick one of four classes, Guide, Medic, Escapist, Scout, each tuned for co-op on larger maps with 13 generators.
Killers bring mode-specific perks and some mechanical changes, such as stomping downed survivors into distant cages rather than standard hooks, and a system that reveals survivor auras on generator completion when survivors are uncaged.
Video highlights from past 2v8 events are available for a quick look at the chaos of two killers versus eight survivors.
