DayZ has received a fresh update that brings a handful of fixes to both consoles and PC, following the large 1.28 patch from a few weeks ago. This update, known as DayZ update 1.79 on consoles, addresses several glitches and exploits that have been causing issues in gameplay.
It’s a shorter list than usual, but the changes are significant for a smoother playing experience. Some user actions were triggering unexpectedly, and there were problems with item handling and vehicle positioning. Players might have noticed odd behavior when characters were inside structures, which this update aims to correct.
Here are the key fixes included in the patch:
Patch 1.28 Hotfix 1 for Consoles and PC – Released July 1, 2025
General Game Fixes:
- Corrected user actions that appeared in unintended situations (T192380).
- Fixed a glitch allowing players to hold unintended items (T192645 – private).
- Resolved an issue where random items could spawn unexpectedly.
- Addressed a vehicle position glitch (T192399, T192730 – private).
- Fixed detection problems when characters were inside structures, which caused multiple issues.
- Patched an exploit that allowed freezing other players (T192480 – private).
Known Issues:
- Players still cannot drink from the Dambog underground water tank.
Given the usual pace of Bohemia Interactive’s updates, we probably won’t see another patch soon unless something urgent comes up. Still, these fixes should tidy up some frustrating bugs.
Have you noticed any of these issues in your playthrough? What do you think about the fixes?
