Darkwood 2 has been announced for PC, and the publisher shared an announcement trailer alongside a brief look at the sequel’s setting and systems. The follow-up to the 2017 survival horror title moves the action years into the future, placing players in a parched region around a dying sea. By day you can travel the dangerous, open spaces to scavenge and prepare; by night you must find shelter, build barricades, and defend yourself from threats that can come from anywhere. The team at Hooded Horse says the story and characters in Darkwood 2 stand on their own and do not require familiarity with the original game.

The game will include:

    • New environments – barren deserts, thick marsh, and deeper waterways.
    • Day-night survival loop – roam and gather by day, survive the night in shelters, cellars, or behind improvised defenses.
    • Scavenge and craft – weapons, traps, and concoctions that can alter how you approach danger.
  • Story choices – twisted locals with backstories, and decisions that affect characters and parts of the world.
  • No quest markers – navigation and discovery are left to the player.

The announcement trailer gives the clearest look so far at tone and atmosphere. Watch the trailer below to see the setting and some of the creatures you’ll be up against.

There are few concrete release details beyond the trailer at this time, so expect more news as the publisher shares it. For now, the message is simple: plan your daylight routes, stash supplies, and decide how you want to face the night.
