For those who’ve long wished to experience Bloodborne on PC but found themselves stuck thanks to Sony’s silence on a port, here’s something to chew on. A new mod called Dark Souls 3: The Beast Presence attempts to transform the familiar world of Dark Souls 3 into a game that feels much more like Bloodborne. This could be just what fans of both games have been waiting for.
The mod retains the Dark Souls 3 map, progression, and core world, but overlays it with the mechanics, movement, and eerie mood that define Bloodborne. It even introduces the rally combat system, which lets you regain health by striking back quickly after taking damage, a mechanic that never made it into the original Dark Souls games.
Beyond combat, the mod tweaks character animations, interaction with objects like bonfires (reimagined as lamps), and replaces some music tracks with tunes that fit Bloodborne‘s darker, creepier vibe. The creator, mrSYMB, plans to expand the mod with future updates that will add the Hunter’s Dream as a hub area, swap in enemies and bosses from Bloodborne, and remove traditional Dark Souls 3 classes so players start unarmed wearing the Foreigner set.
Sounds pretty ambitious, right? It’s a neat idea to mix the best elements of both worlds. If you want to try it out, the first version is already available for download on Nexus Mods here. It’s a mod that requires merging several smaller mods for the full effect—like new animations, weapons, and the Bloodborne HUD—but the results look impressive.
It’s kinda wild to see how modders keep pushing Dark Souls 3 in directions the original developers never imagined. Will this Bloodborne-style mod deliver the same excite? Only time will tell. But if you’ve ever wondered what it’d feel like to hunt beasts instead of hollowed warriors in that world, here’s your chance to find out.
