Not only CD Projekt Red falls under this category of developers, but instead, many others avoid to include modding support for their fresh titles. Especially during its early periods. Well, knowing that CD Projekt Red doesn’t any plans on releasing modding support and tools for their upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game at launch, it may lack a bit of fun.
Nevertheless, every single game developer wants to embrace modding, allowing a part of community members to dwell into. This is usually a win-win situation, granting the players a wider variety of fun and content to play.
Marcin Momot, a community developer, has clarified the approach clearly, as they do not want to rush things out with Cyberpunk 2077. When The Witcher 3 exploded, the merit belonged to CD Projekt Red, so we’re as certain as everyone that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a successful title, no matter if mods are not included during launch.
In a recent interview with Comicbook, Marcin Momot confirmed the same.
“I wanted to elaborate on this topic and on that answer in particular. We have no plans to share at the moment. Obviously, we would love to support the modding community in the future, but for the time being we want to focus on releasing the game first. Hopefully, this clears things up a bit.”
That makes every single community developer or modder to stray away from modding during early release. But this doesn’t rule out the fact that modding could be coming at a later stage, as it is truly vital part for both the players and developers.
The release date of Cyberpunk 2077 is still unknown, and with E3 2019 just around the corner, we may witness some extravagant moments regarding that question. Full disclosure is completely expected by the fans, and CD Projekt Red will hopefully surprise everyone.
