Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Sees Strong First Week Sales

CD Projekt RED’s latest expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, titled Phantom Liberty, has hit a sales milestone. Within a week of its launch on September 26th, the expansion sold a remarkable three million copies across various platforms. This news comes as the main game surpassed 25 million copies sold, marking a significant achievement for the developers.

The sales numbers show a clear preference for PC as the primary gaming platform for Phantom Liberty. A total of 68 percent of sales came from PC users, with 10 percent of those sales going through CD Projekt’s own GOG platform. Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S contributed 20 and 13 percent of the sales, respectively.

Regarding geography, the largest share of sales came from North America, which comprised 35.9 percent, closely followed by Europe at 35.1 percent. Asia also showed strong interest in the expansion, making up 23.1 percent of sales.

This new expansion is not just a tiny add-on. It brings a lot. A new district called Dogtown is introduced, where players like V become involved in a mission to save NUSA president Rosalind Myers. In addition to further storylines, the expansion includes fresh quests, weapons, and recent activities in addition to new storylines. Players can now explore Increased Criminal Activity areas and investigate Mysterious Signals, among other things.

While these initial sales figures are promising, it’s too early to say whether Phantom Liberty will surpass the first-month sales of the base Cyberpunk 2077 game, which sold more than 13.7 million copies. However, with its exciting new features and positive early reception, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the expansion continue to do well in the coming weeks.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. You can check out reviews from various gaming outlets for a more in-depth look at what the expansion offers.
