Core Keeper Teases the Road to the Maw and More Underground Adventures
The August roundup also marked Core Keeper's 2-year 1.0 anniversary, confirmed an open beta for Steam Workshop support, and highlighted new player creations.

Core Keeper has more underground trouble on the way. In its August 2026 community update, the team announced the Road to the Maw, a new run of major content that will unfold across 3 updates.
No release dates were included, so the announcement is still a broad look at what is coming rather than a launch schedule. The early teasers point toward new mysteries beneath the surface, including a purple-toned underground scene with a bright red glow and a strange mechanical structure.

Core Keeper passes its 1.0 anniversary
August also marked 2 years since Core Keeper launched in 1.0 on August 27, 2024, following a 2-year Early Access journey. The anniversary fell on August 27, 2026, but development continued well beyond the full launch.
Players have received major content updates such as Bags & Blasts and Void & Voltage, smaller releases including 1.1.2!, and the Core Keeper X Abiotic Factor collaboration. The Road to the Maw will now carry that support into the game’s next chapter.
Modding support enters an open beta
Players interested in customizing their underground adventures can start with the game’s official modding documentation. The team also said Steam Workshop support is currently available as an open beta, with participation details posted in the modding news and information hub.
Core Keeper is also currently 40% off during Steam’s Survival Crafting Fest. The discount gives existing players a good reason to bring friends into multiplayer adventures, especially with more content planned for the Road to the Maw.
Notes From the Underground teases a strange creature
The August roundup includes another journal entry from a wandering Explorer. The entry describes a creature unlike anything the team has seen in the underground before, adding another small mystery to the game’s world.

Players bring their own creations underground
Community creations received plenty of attention as well. GyroFlick’s character artwork earned praise for its torch design, while Another’s winning entry from a recent official building challenge is titled Extraction Point Delta.

The base is presented as a place for mining operations and preparation before taking on S.A.H.A.B.A.R. It is a fitting showcase for the kind of player-made space that keeps Core Keeper’s underground busy between content updates.
