Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 just received its 1.3.0 patch from Sandfall Interactive, and it’s packed with a hefty number of fixes and some gameplay changes that could shake things up a bit for Story Mode players. With over 297 bug fixes, adjustments to difficulty, and new challenge options, this update aims to polish the experience and add some fresh twists.
One issue that stood out at launch was the keyboard input bug that sometimes ignored commands, especially in fights. Although it’s unclear if patch 1.3.0 completely resolves this, the update does improve mouse and joystick sensitivity, which might help smooth out controls overall. I’m curious if this means less frustration during intense moments!
From what the devs shared, Verso now correctly gains Perfection when in reserve, and the Simoso weapon no longer causes lag due to memory leaks—a relief for anyone annoyed by those hiccups. Cut-scenes should finally scale properly on ultrawide and other unusual resolutions, fixing a weird visual glitch that bothered many players. Plus, placeholder textures near Chromatic Boucheclier and his arena have been removed, cleaning up the environment.
Performance stability got some love too. The patch fixes a crash that could happen after dialogue sequences and addresses performance drops caused by repeated resting in certain levels. So if you tend to grind or take breaks often, the game might feel steadier now.
The update also tweaks Story Mode, which is the easiest difficulty setting. Parry and dodge windows have been increased by 40%, making defensive moves more forgiving, while incoming damage has been cut by 10% to 50%. This should help players who found the story fights a bit too punishing before.
For those craving more challenge, new modifiers unlock from Act III onwards. You can limit your max damage output to either 99,999 or 999,999, and multiply enemy HP from 2x all the way up to a crazy 100x. Imagine tanking those beefed-up foes! It’s a neat way to customize your experience, though it might feel overwhelming at higher multipliers.
Sadly, despite all these fixes, some technical issues from launch remain. Cut-scenes are still capped at 30FPS, so you’ll want to keep using ClairObscurFix if you want smoother playback. There’s no update on DLAA visual improvements, so DLSS Quality is still the recommended setting. Also, official Frame Generation support hasn’t arrived yet, though a mod is available to enable it for those who want to try.
