Civilization 7 has released its Update 1.1.1, focusing on resolving various issues players have encountered since launch. Developer Firaxis shared details through a post on Steam and an explainer video outlining improvements designed to attract more players to this installment of the esteemed series.
This update adds several notable features, including a Quick Move toggle option, the introduction of Mount Everest as a new natural wonder, and the ability for players to rename their settlements and commanders, enhancing personalization within the game. UI updates also accompany these changes.
The developer update video features creative director Ed Beach discussing a new “Start Position” option related to map generation. Players can now select between two settings: “Standard,” which offers a varied continent layout reminiscent of Civ 6, or “Balanced,” which ensures equal starting conditions for all civilizations. Also, there’s now a restart button available, allowing quick matches with identical settings if an unsatisfactory starting position occurs.
Recent UI enhancements include notifications indicating when attacks happen against cities and indicators for crises within the status bar, improvements that should help maintain awareness during gameplay.
