CD Projekt Red’s Stolen Data has been sold

It seems that the hackers who stole and threatened CD Projekt Red have now sold the collected info and source codes of games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3. The collected data has been sold outside of the auction properties after the buyer contacted the data holders.

According to the data holders, it endures a lot of info on video games developed by CD Projekt Red, including source codes of games, accounting, administration, legal, HR, investor relations, and more. After the messages were sent to CD Projekt Red, the hacker then posted the data as a part of an auction that has recently closed.

The forum which had the auction listed apparently received an offer outside of it. The data has been provided under the conditions of further non-distribution.

Update: we have confirmed the auction has closed. Someone has indeed purchased the material.

At this time, someone holds CD Projekt Red’s legacy and source codes of games such as The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. The public and fans believe that CD Projekt Red might be playing a weird game to alleviate investors’ problems and potential lawsuits. It’s a bad year for CD Projekt Red in general, and the light not at the end of the tunnel, at least not in this case.
