Capcom has just announced Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, which will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. This new entry in the favorite turn-based RPG series promises a fresh adventure where players bond with monsters in a lively world.
The story kicks off with the mysterious appearance of Twin Rathalos, whose arrival triggers a conflict between two kingdoms. The heirs from these kingdoms go into into forbidden lands seeking the truth behind this calamity. Sounds pretty intense, right? But also kinda interesting!
For those unfamiliar, the Monster Hunter Stories series offers a different take on the Monster Hunter universe, focusing on turn-based combat and monster companionship rather than the mainline hunting gameplay. The first game launched on the Nintendo 3DS back in 2016, later coming to Switch, PS4, and PC. Its sequel, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, arrived on Switch and PC in 2021, with a PS4 release the same year.
Interestingly, both previous games had their own line of amiibo figures, which is pretty rare for third-party series. However, Capcom hasn’t yet confirmed if the third installment will get its own amiibo. Hmm, I wonder if that’s on their radar.
The announcement trailer gives a glimpse of the game’s art style and atmosphere, highlighting the bond between Riders and monsters. You can check it out below:
With the Switch 2 still fresh on the scene, it’s interesting to see Capcom supporting the new hardware with a title like this. But does it have what it takes to stand out in 2026? I guess we’ll find out.
So, what do you think? Will you be jumping into this new Monster Hunter Stories adventure?
