Capcom Releases Patch to Restore Ray Tracing Options in Resident Evil 2 and 3 on Steam

Capcom has announced the release of a patch that restores the previously removed ray tracing options for Resident Evil 2 and 3 on Steam. The company had previously confirmed that the removal was unintentional, resulting from a bug, and promised to address the issue in a future update.

The issue first arose when Capcom declared its intention to discontinue support for the non-enhanced versions of Resident Evil 7, 2, and 3 on PC later this year, leaving only the ray-tracing versions available on Steam. However, in a surprising turn of events, the company removed ray tracing and 3D audio options from all three games on the platform.

Today, Capcom announced the availability of the new update, which retrieves these options to the games: “Update for Steam users: A patch for the missing ray tracing options should now be available!”

Ray tracing, an advanced rendering technique that simulates realistic lighting and reflections, has become increasingly popular in recent years. Its inclusion in games like Resident Evil 2 and 3 has contributed to their immersive and visually stunning gameplay experiences.
