Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will require a separate purchase at launch and will not join Game Pass until Holiday 2027, Activision confirmed in its Call of Duty Game Pass update.
The game is scheduled to launch October 23, so subscribers who want to play on day one will need to buy it. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will continue to have access to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.
Xbox players can preorder through the console Xbox Store, the Xbox app on PC, or the Microsoft Store. Digital preorders include Campaign Early Access beginning October 16 and DMZ Early Access beginning October 20, as well as the Hunter Killer Operator Skin and Gilded Pearl Camo Pack.
Any digital edition preorder also includes the Inner Circuit M4 Weapon Blueprint. On Xbox consoles, that blueprint gets an OG Green translucent treatment celebrating 25 years of Xbox.
