Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Will Fix Captain Price’s Bizarre Beta Hair in a Future Update

The rendering issue appears at the game's lowest level of detail, and Call of Duty says players meeting the recommended specifications should not encounter it.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will give Captain Price a new haircut in a future update after a low-detail rendering problem turned the long-running character’s beta appearance into an online punchline.

The current Modern Warfare 4 beta has allowed more players to test the shooter ahead of its scheduled global launch. At the lowest level of detail, Price’s hair can fail to render correctly, leaving a few wisps above a flat-looking texture instead of a proper hairstyle. His trademark handlebar mustache remains in place, making the sudden balding effect even more noticeable.

The visual problem quickly became a source of jokes. One reaction renamed the character “Lieutenant Cost”, playing off Captain Price’s name while poking fun at his rough beta model.

Call of Duty’s social media account acknowledged the issue and explained that Price’s hair is not appearing correctly when he is viewed at the lowest level of detail. The team plans to address it in a future update, although no date for that correction was provided.

The account also said the problem should not affect players who meet the game’s recommended specifications. That leaves the haircut tied to the beta’s lower visual setting rather than a change to Price’s character design.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch globally on October 23, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The release will mark the series’ first appearance on a Nintendo platform in more than a decade.

It will also be the first Call of Duty game not to launch on Game Pass day one since Microsoft acquired Activision.

The game also includes multiplayer with 6v6 core maps, large-scale vehicle combat maps, and a dynamic map system called Kill Block that reshapes layouts between rounds.
