Activision has revealed the first look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 multiplayer, confirming 18 launch maps and outlining modes, systems, and the release schedule. In a detailed website post, the publisher runs through maps, weapons, Perks, Field Upgrades, the new Overclock system, Hybrid Combat Specialties, Wildcards, Scorestreaks, Prestige and progression, and other multiplayer systems.
Black Ops 7 will launch with 16 core 6v6 Multiplayer maps and two large-scale 20v20 Skirmish maps. Activision says each map was designed for fast gunplay and around the three-lane layout Treyarch is known for. “Expect a variety of map sizes catering to every type of player, from those craving instant action on very small-sized arenas to those wanting longer-ranged, tactical engagements across medium-sized combat zones,” Activision said in the post.
The reveal also introduces a new objective mode called Overload, in which squads fight over a single device that must be carried into enemy territory to score. Overload will be available to test in the upcoming beta. Call of Duty Next will reveal more on September 30, the multiplayer beta begins on October 2, and Black Ops 7 launches on November 14. Activision confirmed the return of characters, including David Mason and Raul Menendez, and stated that the game is set in 2035, following the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6.
