The latest update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has thrown a wrench in the multiplayer matchmaking system, leaving players frustrated and unable to connect. Seeing such a popular title struggle right after the holidays is disheartening, especially when so many gamers are itching to jump back into action.
Activision has not provided any information regarding patch notes or updates for either Black Ops 6 or Warzone. Players are reporting that they simply cannot access the game. Ironically, the Call of Duty store is functioning perfectly fine if you’re looking to spend money. Isn’t that just the way?
According to an official post on the Call of Duty Updates X account, the issues stem from the recent patch being rolled out across all platforms. This marks the first update since the development teams took their holiday break, leaving many wondering what changes were made—if any.
As we roll out the current update, players may temporarily notice longer than usual matchmaking times.

The timing couldn’t be worse. Call of Duty has been facing backlash lately due to many bugs, questionable bans, and rampant hacking. The player base has significantly dwindled over recent weeks, with reports indicating that the game lost nearly 39% of its Steam players last month alone, the highest drop during this period in years. If I had a dime for every time I’ve encountered a bug while gaming… well, I’d probably be funding my game development studio by now.
If today’s matchmaking disaster wasn’t enough, there’s also speculation about Verdansk coming back in Season 3, rather than Season 2 as previously rumored. As a long-time fan of Verdansk, I wonder: will this beloved map rekindle some player interest or serve as another reminder of past glories?
