Borderlands 4 Missing FoV and Motion Blur Settings Leave Players Frustrated

Borderlands 4 from Gearbox launched without FoV or motion blur toggles, prompting refunds and complaints.

Borderlands 4, from Gearbox and published by 2K, launched without in-game options to change FoV or to disable motion blur, and that omission matters to many players. Reviews have been largely positive, but the missing settings at launch have already led to refunds and online complaints.

Reviews for Borderlands 4 are mostly positive, yet a basic accessibility choice is absent: there is currently no FoV slider and the Motion Blur option cannot be turned off. That lack of control is irritating for players who prefer different viewing setups or who suffer motion sensitivity. One fan drew attention with a post and a refund request; One fan on Reddit called out the omission and asked why a modern game ships without these toggles. The situation escalated quickly enough that the player reported receiving a refund.

I'm sorry no fov or motion bour options on console?!?! What year is it 2008?

There are signs the choices were driven by stability concerns rather than oversight. The title faced issues before release, including crashes during promotional events and reports that it is generally suffering on the Nintendo Switch 2. The developers appear to have made performance-first decisions; Randy Pitchford tried to temper players’ expectations about how far day-one fixes could go. Rendering a wider FoV does increase workload per frame, so removing an adjustable slider could be a stopgap to reduce crashes. If performance improves in post-launch patches, the missing toggles may well return, but there is no firm timeline.

The absence of basic options at release is an awkward look for a franchise that usually gives players control over camera and effects. The choices will matter most to players on PC and those sensitive to blur or low FoV, and a refund being granted suggests the issue has real weight beyond internet complaints. Whether Gearbox will prioritize a quick settings patch or take a longer route to stabilize performance remains unclear.
