After four years of virtual gatherings, BlizzCon returns to the physical realm. Blizzard Entertainment announced on Wednesday that their flagship convention will again set up shop at the Anaheim Convention Center in California on November 3-4, 2023.
“Our players are at the heart of what makes BlizzCon great – a place where games are the common ground for connection and friendship,” said Blizzard in their official statement.
For the uninitiated, BlizzCon is an annual gaming convention held by Blizzard Entertainment to promote its major franchises, such as World of Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, and Overwatch. The convention features game-related announcements, previews of upcoming Blizzard games, Q&A sessions, and intense esports competitions.
This year’s return to in-person festivities marks a significant milestone after four years of online-only events. Blizzard fans have been adventuring through Azeroth, teaming up in Overwatch, and warming themselves by the fire in the Hearthstone Tavern, all from their homes. But now, they’re set to reconnect in person, fostering the spirit of camaraderie that has always defined BlizzCon.
Details regarding ticketing, cosplay, and competition specifics have not yet been released, but Blizzard assured fans that more information will come next month. Despite the excitement, Blizzard is aware that many fans may still opt for virtual participation. As such, the company is gearing up to ensure that the event will still be engaging for those who prefer to join from their homes.
Blizzard concluded their announcement with a heartfelt message to their fans: “Whether you’re coming to hang out with friends you only ever get to see online, celebrating epic moments in the games we love, exploring what’s on offer in the convention center halls, or eager to learn what’s next for our universes, BlizzCon is being created for you. We can’t wait to see you all again.“
