Blizzard has unveiled more information about Diablo 4‘s post-launch content, focusing primarily on the game’s Season, Battle Pass, and Shop. These updates were shared in a recent blog post on the official Blizzard website. The developers explained that the game’s quarterly Seasons would include new gameplay features, questlines, items, and balance changes.
In Diablo 4, Seasons will be a significant addition to the game’s longevity and replayability, providing fresh challenges and goals for players to strive for. Each Season will bring additional gameplay features, new and old questlines, Legendary Items, class balance changes, quality-of-life improvements, and more. The first Season is set to begin in mid to late July, and players must complete the main Campaign before embarking on the Season Journey.
The Season Journey will guide players, providing details on the new content. Completing Chapters, which consist of Objectives, will level up the Battle Pass and earn players Seasonal rewards, such as Crafting Materials and Legendary Aspects for their Codex of Power. Each completed Objective will also reward Favor, the resource used to level up through the Tiers of the Battle Pass.
Battle Pass & Shop
Each new Season brings a new Battle Pass, with 27 Free Tiers and 63 Premium Tiers of rewards to be earned. Players can gain Cosmetics and Smoldering Ashes from the Free Tiers. The Smoldering Ashes can be spent on Season Blessings, which provide bonuses to earning XP, Gold, or Obols.
The Battle Pass will come in three versions: Free, Premium, and Accelerated. The Premium Battle Pass, costing 1,000 Platinum ($9.99), unlocks tiers that provide unique Cosmetics and the Platinum currency. The Accelerated Battle Pass, costing 2,800 Platinum ($24.99), includes all perks of the Premium Pass, 20 Tier Skips, and a special Cosmetic.
The Shop will offer a broad array of cosmetic customization options, none of which will provide anything more than aesthetic variety. While players can earn hundreds of transmogs, weapons, and armor pieces through gameplay, the Shop’s Cosmetics will allow for greater personalization. Class-specific Cosmetics will be available, adding another layer of uniqueness to character customization.
