Bladesong, a sword-making simulator about crafting fantastical blades at the forge, will arrive on Steam Early Access on Thursday January 22, 2026, Mythwright and Sun and Serpent Creations confirmed in an exclusive reveal. The game puts players in the role of the smith of Eren Keep, taking commissions from nobles, mercenaries, and other clients while unpicking the city’s conspiracies. Bladesong uses a modular build system that lets you assemble blades from molds and a wide range of materials – leather, obsidian, ivory among them, and allows for etching magical runes. Players can follow customer specs in Story Mode or free-form creations in Creative Mode.
There are social hooks too: you can share designs with other players, and the game supports export for 3D printing so physical versions of your swords can be produced. The developer also highlighted the variety of available molds and the way commissions scale up as you build a reputation in Eren Keep. A playable demo is already available if you want to try the mechanics before Early Access. You can add the game to your Steam wishlist or try the demo from the Steam store page.
There was a short video embedded with the reveal; the canonical clip is linked here for reference.
If you like hammering away in Skyrim, there is a clear throughline between that game’s player-driven gear obsession and Bladesong’s focus on crafted weapons; see Skyrim’s lead designer on open world player agency for more on why player choice around gear matters so much. Mythwright and Sun and Serpent Creations partnered with PCGamesN for the exclusive date reveal; the teams did not attach a price to the Early Access build in the announcement. The demo and Early Access build will be the main ways players can reach the smith’s bench early while the developers refine systems and add content.
