Blades of Fire has just unveiled an official gameplay showcase trailer courtesy of 505 Games. This 5-minute video dives into the game’s combat mechanics and overall gameplay. Players are advised that there may be some spoilers in the footage, so proceed cautiously when watching.
This third-person action-adventure game allows players to forge their weapons and defeat formidable foes using a distinct combat system. You’ll encounter Forge Scrolls throughout your journey to level up your forging skills, crafting weapons tailored to your fighting style from seven weapon families and over 30 distinct Forge Scrolls.
The combat system is particularly noteworthy; players can target specific body parts of opponents, making each fight feel dynamic as you choose to slash, stab, or bludgeon, depending on the situation and the enemy’s equipment. You’re not alone if you’re getting vibes similar to classics like Die by the Sword or Severance.
While the game is still in development, it doesn’t feel as polished as expected from more prominent titles. Yet, given its double-A status, I find myself less concerned with polish than whether it tells an interesting story. If it does that well, I’m all in.
Blades of Fire is set for launch on May 22nd exclusively on the Epic Games Store at release. If you’re curious about how this game unfolds visually, watch the trailer below:
