Black Myth: Wukong hit the scene with a bang last year, and now its developer, Game Science, has teased an appearance at Gamescom 2025 that’s got players talking about a possible DLC or big update. The action RPG’s success was massive, so any news is worth watching.
Game Science announced via X that they will join Gamescom’s Opening Night Live on August 19, 2025, at 8 pm CEST (2 pm EST, 11 am PST, 7 pm BST). Their tweet was cryptic, simply saying, “we look forward to seeing you there.” No hints about what they’ll show. Could it be a new trailer? A DLC reveal? Or maybe something else entirely?

Launched initially on PS5 and PC, Black Myth: Wukong didn’t have an Xbox version at first. That’s about to change on August 20, 2025, when the game finally arrives on Xbox. An Xbox launch trailer during the event seems likely, but that feels a bit underwhelming considering the hype. Fans on Reddit are hoping for more than just a port announcement. One player wrote, “DLC! DLC! Can’t wait,” while another begged, “DLC I beg.” It’s clear the community misses this game a lot, especially since nothing else this year has quite matched its vibe.
No official word on DLC exists yet, but considering Black Myth: Wukong was one of the fastest-selling games ever, with over 10 million copies sold in just four days, it would make a lot of sense financially. The game reportedly cost around $43 million to develop, which is quite modest compared to massive budgets like Battlefield 6’s rumored $400 million. So why not cash in on the momentum with some extra content?
Announcing DLC alongside the Xbox launch would be a smart move, letting Game Science do one marketing push instead of two. Of course, there’s always the wild card possibility they’ll surprise everyone with a brand new game announcement. Guess we’ll find out soon enough.
