Behaviour Interactive Apologizes After TheBurntPeanut Receives Unapproved Dead by Daylight Content
The studio has since removed the DLC and updated its Creator Program after granting the content without approval.

Behaviour Interactive has removed the Dead by Daylight DLC it gave streamer TheBurntPeanut after criticism of an unapproved content grant. The studio has also updated its Creator Program and is rewriting internal guidelines after apologizing for its handling of the situation.
A Behaviour employee gave TheBurntPeanut all of the game’s DLC during a Twitch broadcast, along with in-game currency. Members of the Dead by Daylight community criticized the gift over the streamer’s past use of a slur and other offensive language. He had used the slur during an Escape from Tarkov stream several months earlier and apologized immediately afterward.
During the Dead by Daylight stream, the employee used the game’s account to tell the creator that the content was his to keep and that staff could take the heat. Behaviour later said the grant had not received appropriate approval and that the employee’s subsequent comments and conduct did not align with the game’s values.
In its initial apology, the studio said creators sometimes receive content unlocks to preview what is available. It acknowledged that concerns raised during the stream should have prompted an investigation rather than dismissal. Behaviour also supported community members raising concerns about shared values, condemned inflammatory language directed at the community and asked people to stop engaging with posts threatening employees.
This weekend, a Dead by Daylight team member awarded in-game content and currency to a creator streaming our game. Although it is not unusual to unlock content to give creators discovering DbD a chance to have a sneak peek at available content, this decision was made without…

Behaviour did not specify disciplinary action for the employee in its initial apology. Community member M1das criticized the response for not announcing consequences.

Behaviour’s follow-up on the grant
In a subsequent statement, Behaviour said team members noticed a large audience watching a streamer who had not played Dead by Daylight before. The decision to grant content and join the chat happened quickly, outside the studio’s usual team discussions. Behaviour said it had not properly considered the creator’s past content against the inclusive values it normally reviews when working with someone new.

The studio said its internal safeguards were not strong enough to prevent direct grants of in-game items without wider approval. Alongside removing the DLC, it is rewriting internal guidelines, has reiterated communication standards to staff and has updated its Creator Program.
Behaviour also said the employee’s response to concerns about favoritism, along with other messages from the stream, disregarded the situation and added pressure on community creators involved in the ensuing conversations.
