Japanese gaming furniture maker Bauhutte introduced the Electric Gaming Bed 2 earlier this week, a motorized bed frame aimed at people who want to play while lying down.
The frame uses multiple motors so the occupant can raise or lower their upper body and legs independently. That lets a user shift from flat to a reclining play position with the push of a button. Bauhutte also added two practical changes over prior models: the main frame now splits into three sections to make delivery and setup easier, and a retention bar prevents the mattress from sliding off when the sections are raised.
Bauhutte’s machine-translated product copy asks, “Do you want to make ‘gaming while lying down‘ a full-fledged part of your daily life?” and describes the product as a “forbidden layout designed specifically for the unapologetically indulgent gamer.” The company’s promotional imagery pairs the bed with other Bauhutte accessories, including wire racks and cupholders, in a compact bedroom setup staged around multiple displays.
The Electric Gaming Bed 2 is listed for sale in Japan at ¥70,400, roughly $450. The matching Bauhutte gaming mattress is not included and was listed on the product pages as an additional purchase, costing in the region of another ¥30,000 or about $200, depending on model and exchange rates.
While a motorized, adjustable frame can offer genuine benefits for people with mobility needs, Bauhutte’s marketing explicitly targeted a different customer profile: the company pitched the bed toward people “living a supremely decadent life,” emphasizing convenience, snack storage, and a single-shirt wardrobe in its mock setups.
It was not clear from the product information whether Bauhutte planned international shipping for the Electric Gaming Bed 2. Availability outside Japan and any global pricing details were not published on the Japanese product pages at the time of the announcement.
