EA and DICE are continuing their Battlefield Labs testing phase, aiming to deliver a Battlefield experience that feels true to the series’ roots. Recently leaked gameplay footage reveals the return of the landing roll mechanic from Battlefield 5, though it appears to have some issues that might affect how players receive it.
Many fans feel recent Battlefield games have drifted away from what made the franchise special, focusing more on battle royale modes, cosmetics, and sometimes unstable gameplay. The ongoing Battlefield Labs tests are meant to bring the next Battlefield title back to basics, with a planned release before April 2026.
A video shared on the X account BattlehubYT shows in-game footage from Battlefield Labs. The landing roll is back, originally introduced in Battlefield 5 to avoid fall damage and dodge enemy fire. The clip features a playtester firing a sniper shot, then quickly rolling down a ledge and mantling a rock while performing the roll. However, the roll animation looks slower and less smooth than before.
