Battlefield 6’s Rush Mode Flops in Second Open Beta Weekend, Players Slam Its Design

Players slam Battlefield 6’s Rush mode for broken gameplay and poor design in second beta weekend.

Battlefield 6’s second open beta weekend hasn’t gone as planned, especially for fans of the classic Rush mode. Reports from players point to a broken experience, with locked weapons, chaotic gameplay, and server issues souring what should have been a highlight. Rush, a fan favorite from earlier Battlefield titles, feels off in this iteration, and players aren’t holding back.

Rush is a staple mode for many Battlefield fans, including myself. I spent countless hours on Battlefield 3’s Rush Metro, so hearing about these problems hits hard. According to chatter on Twitter and Reddit, Rush in Battlefield 6 feels rushed, pun intended, and unfinished. One player tweeted, “Zero space between sectors/MCOM locations and even 12v12 feels like an utter clusterfuck.” They also pointed out that once you run out of respawns with armed MCOMs, the game ends, as there’s no overtime mechanic. That’s a big blow to the flow of matches.

Weapon choice has also become a sore point. Originally, there were supposed to be options allowing players to choose between open and closed weapon classes. Open weapon classes mean a Recon could wield an assault rifle or LMG, while an Engineer might carry a sniper rifle. But in Rush, weapons are locked to open only. One frustrated player summed it up perfectly: “Forcing Rush in BF6 to be open weapons only is such a massive L.” They even called out Dice for ignoring player feedback, suggesting the developers are stubbornly insisting players will like it eventually.

Server issues add fuel to the fire. Persistent servers were promised but haven’t made it into this beta. So players can’t expect to keep their spot on a map or side. One player explained their experience: after defending a map, they expected to attack the same map against the same players in the next match. Instead, they were thrown into a new game with different players, again defending. It kills any momentum or sense of rivalry.

Reddit threads show plenty of disappointment, too. Many dislike that Rush is scaled down to 12v12 instead of the usual hectic 32v32 battles. The smaller player count and cramped objectives make the mode feel cramped and less strategic. Searching “Rush” on the Battlefield subreddit pulls up a flood of negative posts.

Have you jumped into the beta yet? What’s your take on this version of Rush? It’s hard not to wonder if Dice even played their mode before pushing it out. Maybe they’re hoping for quick fixes, but right now, it feels like a mess.
