Developer Ripple Effect is changing battlefield 6’s class system, and those changes have already moved beyond the open beta tests. That matters because the adjustments affect how classes work in matches and may change which roles players prefer once the game launches.
The open beta weekends drew a record number of players across two weekends, and developers used that feedback to test changes. Thomas Andersson told Edge magazine that the team has already made further edits and that players should not assume classes will stay the same. He said the alterations touch several roles and the way squads form in combat. An interview expands on how those lessons from the beta shaped the changes.
Andersson told Edge magazine that “The class system has already moved beyond what’s in open beta”, confirming the scale of the adjustments. He explained the changes to the Assault Class directly, saying players will notice “reduced efficiency in some areas” but that those shifts will help “from a teamplay perspective”. One concrete tweak is that the Assault player will now carry the deploy beacon rather than Recon, moving to “to [reinforce] ‘this is the guy to spawn on.” These changes aim to influence how squads coordinate their respawns and objectives.
Ripple Effect also confirmed other features alongside the class work. The team has outlined a console-only crossplay mode for specific sessions. Share your thoughts in the comments and follow along on X and Bluesky for updates and quick reactions.
