Battlefield 6’s open beta is getting a fresh update before its second weekend goes live. With this update, DICE is bringing a new map, extra modes, and new challenges that reward items for the final game. The update weighs in at 380 MB on PS5, so console players should keep an eye out for it.
Wondering what you’ll be jumping into this time? The second weekend of the beta runs from August 14 to 17 and includes all the maps and modes from Week 1, plus the brand-new Empire State map. Modes now include Rush and Squad Deathmatch alongside Conquest, Breakthrough, Domination, and King of the Hill. Rumor has it DICE might toss in a new mode called “Escalation,” which sounds like a Domination variant where capture points vanish as the match progresses, pushing players into tighter, more intense firefights.
New challenges are also on the table. Capture 42 flags in Conquest, Domination, or King of the Hill to snag the War Machine Vehicle Skin. Get 200 kills or assists and earn the Bat Company Dog Tag. Capture 10 sectors in Breakthrough or Rush for the Strikling Distance Weapon Package. Any challenges missed in Week 1 can still be completed during Week 2, so there’s no excuse to slack off.

DICE has acknowledged concerns about weapon recoil, saying balance passes were made but couldn’t be included in this beta build. So don’t freak out just yet about the recoil patterns. They’re aware and working on it.
Another thing worth watching is a community challenge where if players deal $1 trillion worth of damage collectively, a weapon skin unlocks. Also, server browser testing is coming soon according to DICE, though it’s unclear if it will be part of Week 2. Maybe they’ll surprise us and flip the switch early, but don’t hold your breath.
