Battlefield 6’s open beta is getting a fresh update before its second weekend goes live. With this update, DICE is bringing a new map, extra modes, and new challenges that reward items for the final game. The update weighs in at 380 MB on PS5, so console players should keep an eye out for it.

Wondering what you’ll be jumping into this time? The second weekend of the beta runs from August 14 to 17 and includes all the maps and modes from Week 1, plus the brand-new Empire State map. Modes now include Rush and Squad Deathmatch alongside Conquest, Breakthrough, Domination, and King of the Hill. Rumor has it DICE might toss in a new mode called “Escalation,” which sounds like a Domination variant where capture points vanish as the match progresses, pushing players into tighter, more intense firefights.

New challenges are also on the table. Capture 42 flags in Conquest, Domination, or King of the Hill to snag the War Machine Vehicle Skin. Get 200 kills or assists and earn the Bat Company Dog Tag. Capture 10 sectors in Breakthrough or Rush for the Strikling Distance Weapon Package. Any challenges missed in Week 1 can still be completed during Week 2, so there’s no excuse to slack off.

Battlefield 6 Beta Week 2 Update Patch Notes

  • Added new map: Empire State
  • New modes: Rush and Squad Deathmatch
  • Possible introduction of “Escalation” mode
  • New challenges and rewards for players
  • Ongoing known issues listed below

Known Issues in Battlefield 6 Beta

Soldier

  • Primary weapon deploy delayed during sprint
  • Cannot ping enemies when using stationary weapons
  • Takedown prompt sometimes doesn’t trigger action
  • Ping/spot disabled while in vehicles
  • Redeploying while driving switches to first-person view
  • Zipline and riding animations unfinished
  • Spamming mount weapon exits prone position
  • Aim assist near smoke incomplete
  • Player may sink into ground after reviving teammate

Weapons and Gadgets

  • Placeholder text for barrel attachments and machine guns
  • Iron sights clip through camera when firing with some scopes
  • Incorrect scope names in loadout

UI/UX

  • Close Map button doesn’t work
  • Missing soldier supply provider animations
  • Slider settings are a work in progress
  • Missing out-of-bounds markers for air vehicles on overview map
  • Spotted vehicle icon absent
  • Game mode objective icons vanish if selected player leaves
  • Pickup prompts missing on some gadgets
  • Crouch key rebinding doesn’t fully work

Maps & Modes

  • Distorted visual effects in Firing Range on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
  • Capstone map has missing lighting and non-functional barbed wire
  • Zipline ropes lack proper texture

Settings & Functionality

  • Big Map opacity slider non-functional
  • DualSense vibration not working via Bluetooth

Client

  • Some PS5 users may see “ID OptionsModify” screen due to language mismatch; workaround: delete beta install and saved data, set console language to English, reinstall beta

Crash Awareness

  • Crash on splash screen with “D3D12CreateDevice” error; fix by repairing game and disabling Force randomization for images (Mandatory ASLR) in Windows Security

DICE has acknowledged concerns about weapon recoil, saying balance passes were made but couldn’t be included in this beta build. So don’t freak out just yet about the recoil patterns. They’re aware and working on it.

Another thing worth watching is a community challenge where if players deal $1 trillion worth of damage collectively, a weapon skin unlocks. Also, server browser testing is coming soon according to DICE, though it’s unclear if it will be part of Week 2. Maybe they’ll surprise us and flip the switch early, but don’t hold your breath.
