Battlefield 6 players woke up to a patch that removes a long-standing annoyance. EA and DICE pushed update 1.1.1.5, which eliminates an exploit that allowed players to reach unintended areas by standing on the XFGM-6D Recon Drone and hitting it with the Sledgehammer, and applies a raft of fixes across core modes, including Battle Royale RedSec.
What the patch fixes – exploit, RedSec, and match flow
The drone trick that lets players reach places they shouldn’t be has been closed. That exploit had been a sore point for players who ran into airborne snipers or bypassed map geometry to lock down objectives. Beyond the drone fix, the update tackles issues that affect how matches play out and how players are scored in the game’s Battle Royale mode, RedSec. Match flow, squad revive behavior, and End of Round transitions received attention, and a specific issue that was preventing progress on the Battle Royale Master Challenge 4 was corrected.
Key technical and gameplay fixes in 1.1.1.5
- Drone exploit – The XFGM-6D Recon Drone Sledgehammer interaction that allowed unintended access has been removed.
- Lock-Guided missiles – Missiles are now being countered correctly by enemy countermeasures.
- Vehicle spawns – Vehicles not spawning correctly in Breakthrough and Conquest were fixed.
- Progression, audio, and UI – Multiple technical issues that affected progression tracking, audio playback, and UI behavior were addressed.
Closing the drone exploit restores map integrity and reduces cheap wins that frustrated squads and streamers alike. For competitive and public games, that kind of fix makes objective play more consistent and reduces the number of matches decided by an out-of-bounds advantage. Fixes to Lock-Guided missile behavior and vehicle spawns also matter for balance. Lock-Guided weapons that interact predictably with countermeasures change encounter outcomes, while reliable vehicle spawns prevent objective modes from stalling. Those sound like small things until a contested point stalls because a transport never appeared.

Players greeted the patch with relief on the drone issue, but complaints remain. A sizable portion of the community still flags concerns about weapon balance, arguing that some weapon classes feel off from expectations. Netcode and bot backfill remain frequent talking points, with many players reporting matches that include a high number of bots. Battlefield 6 still posts healthy numbers on PC – SteamDB shows a 24-hour peak above 430,000 players – but the game is competing with newer shooters and the usual seasonal Call of Duty surge. Fixes like this are minor but practical steps toward stabilizing the play experience while other balance and matchmaking concerns are sorted.
If these fixes hold, public matches should feel cleaner and less prone to the odd out-of-bounds clutch. There are still balance and matchmaking items left on the list for the developer to address, but this patch removes one of the most obvious grief tools.
