Battlefield 6 has kicked off its Open Beta with a bang, quickly becoming the most watched game on Twitch and drawing a massive player base on Steam. This early surge highlights the strong interest in the new entry of the franchise, even though early access is limited to those with Twitch drop codes for the first two days.
Launch trailers and gameplay previews had already stirred up a lot of excitement, so it’s no surprise that the Open Beta, running from August 7 to August 10, has attracted over 200,000 players eager to jump in. But what’s striking is how many are tuning in to watch others play.
At the moment, Battlefield 6 boasts over 600,000 viewers on Twitch, making it the top game by a wide margin. To put that in perspective, the next most watched game, League of Legends, has just over 100,000 viewers. That’s a huge gap, suggesting many are curious about the gameplay but haven’t secured early access codes yet.
It’s interesting how many people prefer watching live streams over playing right away. Maybe that’s what they were going for with the Twitch drops. Either way, these numbers are expected to climb even more over the weekend as access opens up fully.
Not everyone is just watching though. Steam Charts shows that Battlefield 6 is currently the fourth most played game on Steam, with over 190,000 concurrent players. That’s just on Steam, not counting EA Play or consoles. Yikes, server queues are reportedly over 200,000 players at times, so patience will be key for those trying to get in.
If you’re planning to join the beta on PC, make sure to enable Secure Boot to avoid any hiccups getting into the queue.
