Battlefield 6 has impressed many with its visuals and gameplay, but one complaint has stuck out: the sniper glint. This effect makes snipers extremely visible when preparing down sights, which some players find frustrating. A principal game designer at DICE has now responded, saying the glint will be toned down but not removed.
Sniping usually depends on stealth. You want to stay hidden, pick off enemies quietly, and avoid being spotted. But in Battlefield 6, the sniper glint is so evident that it almost feels like a spotlight on snipers. A Battlefield Wire social media post asked fans whether the glint should stay. Florian Le Bihan, known as DRUNKKZ3, who is now a principal game designer at DICE, replied that the glint would get “toned down in scale a bit but it’s here to stay.”
Why keep it at all? Without sniper glint, snipers might become too powerful, especially since Battlefield 6 has no killcams and features large maps. Players could camp and take out targets without much risk, which wouldn’t feel fair. So, the glint acts as a counterbalance, letting others know when a sniper is preparing to shoot at them.
Still, how strong it currently is feels over the top to some. The exact scale of the nerf isn’t clear yet, and DICE will probably adjust it until both players and developers find it acceptable. What do you think? Is the sniper glint too much right now? How much visibility is reasonable for snipers?
