Battlefield 6 Season 5 Is Adding 3 Vegas Maps and Reshaping REDSEC Playlists

Rapid Royale Solos replaces the current Battle Royale solo-and-duo rotation, while Gauntlet leaves the lineup and a dedicated Server Browser is scheduled for Frozen Aces on Dec. 8.

Battlefield 6’s fifth season is taking the fight to Las Vegas with two new maps available now and a third, European Casino, scheduled for Nov. 10. EA’s Steam community update also outlines changes to combat, REDSEC matchmaking, and Portal.

The first two maps launched as Verified Portal Experiences, with support for Custom Experiences planned for later. Season 5 also brings new weapons and adds the Crashed Carrier as a Portal point of interest. Water support has expanded to Sandbox and REDSEC maps, with more Battlefield 6 multiplayer maps planned for later updates.

Server Browser arrives with Frozen Aces

EA’s Season 5 roadmap schedules the dedicated Server Browser for Dec. 8, when the third phase, Frozen Aces, begins. Platoons are also set to return with that phase. Battlefield 6 already has a browser in Portal, but that tool is tied to its content-creation mode. The new browser will open up the regular server pool, which has otherwise relied on automated matchmaking.

Players will be able to browse official and player-made servers and check details such as maps and modes. Full or high-ping servers can be pushed lower in the results. Community hosts will be able to set their own map rotations, and their servers will remain persistent and free to join.

Before Frozen Aces, the Casino Heist phase is scheduled for Nov. 10 with the European Casino map and REDSEC Elite Series. Frozen Aces will also bring Operation High Roller, updates to New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields, the B-81 Cavalry jet, and more weapons and gear.

Rapid Royale Solos takes a REDSEC slot

Rapid Royale is planned for both Solos and Trios during Season 5, with Solos arriving at the start of the season. The mode offers shorter Battle Royale matches and more frequent fights. To give its matchmaking queues a larger player pool, EA ended the current rotation between Battle Royale Solos and Duos when the season began.

EA plans to bring Battle Royale Duos back later in Season 5. Its current direction is to rotate Duos with Rapid Royale Solos, though that plan is still under review. Gauntlet left the active playlist lineup at the start of the season because its smaller player population made it harder to fill matches, especially in less populated regions. EA has left open the possibility of bringing it back.

REDSEC’s Battle Royale mode also gets updated Class Training Paths, more gadgets in Police Vans, Ambulances, and Class Crates, and a Reconnect feature that lets disconnected players return to an active match. Armor plating is 20% faster for every class. Engineer starts with a Repair Tool and M136 AT, Support with a Supply Pouch and Deployable Cover, and Recon with T-UGS and a Mobile Jammer. The Phantom Program remains active beyond Season 4.

Season 5 adjusts vehicles, weapons, and Portal

Vehicle changes cover health regeneration, directional damage, and weak spots, putting more weight on positioning and where shots land. The SLM-93A and Igla lose Below Radar, while Mobile and Stationary AA cannons are improved. Scout Helicopter rockets and resupply timing, vehicle loadouts, aim-guided missiles, the M15 AV Mine, and the PTKM-1R also receive adjustments. Air vehicle resupplies are specific to each vehicle, and High-Velocity Shells get a visibility improvement.

In REDSEC, PDWs, Carbines, Assault Rifles, and LMGs need an additional bullet to eliminate armored targets at certain ranges. The M39 EMR and SVDM are among the DMRs receiving tuning, and ammunition limits for DMRs and Sniper Rifles change. EA says the full weapon-by-weapon breakdown is in the Season 5 update notes.

Class Training Paths add or adjust benefits tied to survivability, armor, revives, spotting, and anti-vehicle play. Portal builders received both new maps at launch, along with water support for Sandbox and REDSEC locations including Complex 3, Defense Nexus, Redline Storage, Area 22B, Marina District, Downtown, Golf Course, and USS Grant. The Crashed Carrier, an aircraft carrier brought down off Fort Lyndon, offers a new combat area with higher-value loot than standard points of interest.

Ranked matchmaking bands have already been adjusted to better align players with their intended rank ranges. Which server-browser detail would be most useful when choosing a match?
