Battlefield 6 is teasing some interesting new gadgets, as shown in the latest footage from Battlefield Labs. These glimpses give us a peek at deployable cover, defibrillators, tracer darts, and more, adding to what we know about the game’s class system and customization options.
The Battlefield Labs footage, shared by MP1st, shows several gadgets currently available in the playtest. Among them are defibrillators to revive downed teammates, a supply crate that likely refills ammo and other resources, and a tracer dart that can reveal enemy locations. There are also deployable covers and two other gadgets that haven’t been identified yet, which makes me curious about what else might be coming.
Interestingly, Battlefield 6 brings back a feature from BF 2042 that lets players pick any weapon regardless of their class. So, a Recon player could use an assault rifle if they want, and there are no restrictions on gadgets either. The developers did add signature traits to urge players to stick with weapons designed for their class, but ultimately, the choice is yours.
Of course, Battlefield Labs is a playtest environment, so some gadgets might change or even be removed before the final release. It’s kind of interesting to see these early ideas in action, though. It makes you wonder how they’ll balance everything for the whole game.
Aside from gadgets, there’s talk about 120 FPS support on PS5 Pro, a rumored battle royale mode, and campaign inspiration drawn from Civil War and Dead Space themes. Those hints add some lovely layers to what might be a pretty diverse experience.
