The Light Ground Transport jeep in Battlefield 6 is widely mocked for being fragile and dangerous. Now one player has turned that ridicule into a weird kind of trophy by reaching vehicle mastery rank 50 for the jeep and showing off the rare reward skin while calling the vehicle exactly what everyone suspected – “It’s a bad vehicle.”
The player, Renegade_Soviet, posted a screenshot of the ruby rank 50 badge on Reddit and told PC Gamer the grind was a test of endurance more than efficiency. The strategy was simple and stubborn. “I would wait at the objectives or narrow pathways and wait for [enemies] to come towards me. I did it off and on over the course of a month, but I was averaging 2.5k to 3k XP per game. Not sure if it was the most efficient method.” The twist was he did it on live Conquest and Escalation servers, not bot matches. He said he avoided casual mode because “it only gives a fraction of the XP for bot kills.” That made the project longer and, as he put it, rough on his sanity.
Renegade described how he turned the jeep into a stationary death trap. He parked in chokepoints, played gunner, and stayed put so enemy squads could not easily drive the jeep into danger. If a squadmate spawned and tried to drive the vehicle, he would leave and start a new squad to keep the jeep still. The tactic paid out slowly and tediously until the mastery icon arrived. He did not sugarcoat the vehicle’s problems. “It’s a bad vehicle because it has no protection. Even a simple shield on the machinegun would greatly improve your ability to be effective as a gunner,” he said. “I think it should be replaced by the Humvee or at least add some customization to protect the whole of the vehicle.”
There are practical implications for DICE here. The jeep’s mobility and turret make it tempting to use but its lack of armor turns it into a liability. Players that want a safer, more reliable transport currently favor other options like the Traverser Mk2 which was introduced in Season 1 but only appears on a couple of maps. The team working on the game has been hearing complaints about transport reliability and map balance, and the lead producer has laid out a list of fixes and changes in recent communication about the game; the producer’s fixes outline discusses server and gameplay adjustments that may help these vehicle problems.
The ruby rank 50 badge is an odd little status symbol. For many weapons or vehicles, hitting level 50 through normal play takes a week or two. For the LGT this was a month of careful positional play and patience. Whether the jeep ever becomes a sane, usable option again remains a developer decision, but this is the record that one player made while the vehicle was objectively awful.
