With Battlefield 6 open beta’s early access starting August 7, DICE pushed out a minor update to the beta client today. This patch is only 472 MB on PS5 and likely focuses on backend fixes since the game isn’t playable yet. Still, downloading it now is a smart move to avoid last-minute headaches when servers go live.
Players will need this version 1.000.002 update to connect once the beta officially opens. I’m kinda curious what tweaks they snuck in without patch notes. Maybe some server-side adjustments? Either way, it’s a quick download, so why not get it out of the way?
Here’s what you can expect from the beta weekends and the rewards up for grabs. Weekend 1 runs August 9–10 and hands out the Seeker Soldier Skin, All Terrain Soldier Skin, Dominion Weapon Package, and Lights Out Player Card Background. Weekend 2 follows August 14–17, offering the War Machine Vehicle Skin, Bat Company Dog Tag, and Striking Distance Weapon Package. Not bad, right? Those skins might be worth grinding for.
Console players, heads up! DICE is bringing mouse and keyboard support to consoles, which means you’ll be squaring off against PC players if you opt in. That’s a bold move. Wonder how that’ll affect the balance?
Still hunting for an early access key? EA is handing some out today, so keep an eye on their channels if you want in before the official beta launch.
