Battlefield 6’s lead designer has tried to calm nerves about movement changes after launch, saying planned fixes will be limited to animation and odd edge cases rather than altering how fast players move.
The Battlefield series has long been praised for its fast, fluid combat, and many players have asked DICE to be cautious about altering that formula after release. ConsolePCGaming spoke about this earlier when the studio said it was “looking at adjustments” to movement after the beta and launch showed differing player preferences.
Florian Le Bihan, principal game designer on Battlefield 6, responded directly to a player on Twitter, saying “We’re not going to change movement speed and the adjustments we will be doing will be small but enough to improve some rough case scenarios, some of them that are mostly ‘animation’ related more than core movement (physics) really.“
Many of the fixes follow the usual post-launch path of squashing glitches and smoothing odd behaviors rather than rewriting core systems. There’s also the weirder side of post-launch life. Players discovered a drone glitch that allows for incredibly high-flying with a sniper. Conversations about such issues help explain why some minor adjustments to movements are being considered.
