Battlefield 6 lead producer David Sirland says the game’s servers “should be” ready for Friday’s launch, following an open beta that drew massive numbers across PC and consoles, providing DICE with a clearer picture of peak demand and where capacity needs the most attention. The Battlefield 6 Beta was extremely popular, and some are already comparing it to Call of Duty in the renewed rivalry between the series.
Queues spiked early, with reports of over 200,000 players attempting to log in simultaneously, then easing somewhat by the weekend. When asked if servers would handle launch, Sirland replied, “Should be! We are planning for that of course, and open beta helped gauge the interest as well.”

Past launches have shown how quickly things can get messy: Arrowhead had to double its server capacity for Helldivers 2. Its director even urged people to not buy their game while servers settled, which led to a frantic call from Sony asking what the fuck I was smoking. Big publishers like EA can scale fast, and lower-than-expected demand would avoid headaches. EA Dice has been listening closely, and after 92 million hours of beta testing, the developer says requests for naval warfare have been noted, and there are over 200 changes coming in a day one patch.
