Battlefield 6 developers have confirmed a console-only crossplay mode that lets PlayStation and Xbox players match together without PC players. That option matters because it gives console users a choice about who they face and changes how lobbies are filled during matchmaking.
The details come from an interview with IGN where technical director Christian Buhl and senior console combat designer Matthew Nickerson explained how crossplay works. Nickerson described crossplay as a simple in-game toggle and said the matchmaking system will give preference to console players “in a set time frame” before adding PC players. He also noted that crossplay is on by default, so players have to switch it off manually to activate the console-only option. The explanation suggests lobbies will try to keep consoles together first and then top up from PC if needed.
When players turn crossplay off, the lobby will include PlayStation and Xbox users but exclude PC players entirely. That means consoles can pair with each other while avoiding PC matchups. The article also mentions that unrelated scam links related to Battlefield 6 playtests have been found on Reddit. The game recently added another Limp Bizkit track titled Making Love to Morgan Wallen, which some players have been discussing.
