Battlefield 6 now has a dedicated Casual Breakthrough mode in the multiplayer tab, a middle-ground option for players who want less intensity without losing progression entirely. The mode mixes real players and bots, so you can still complete challenges and earn XP, but the experience gain is weighted around whether you fight humans or AI.
Matches are between two teams of 24 players, with eight human players and 16 bots on each side. Actions against real opponents grant the whole career, weapon, and battle pass experience, while kills and actions against the AI return reduced XP. The mode does not grant dogtags, accolades, or career stat upgrades for now.
Introducing: Casual Breakthrough
We understand that sometimes you want to jump into Battlefield but without the intensity of a full PvP lobby. To create a more relaxed way to play while still earning progression and completing challenges, we’re introducing Casual Breakthrough…

Casual Breakthrough is live on two maps, Siege of Cairo and Empire State. The developer says it will monitor feedback and make adjustments if needed. This follows the ongoing effort to reduce XP farming in Portal, where the team recently lowered experience rates for unverified Portal experiences that rely on bot backfill. We previously covered the studio’s attempts to curb XP exploits and tweak progression; see our piece on DICE’s planned progression and Portal changes for more background.
Separately, the developer has applied temporary XP adjustments to Strikepoint while it investigates an exploit that allowed rapid progression. If you were chasing the easiest route through challenges, expect some modes to feel less generous until that investigation concludes. Will you try the new Casual Breakthrough when you need a calmer round, or do you prefer full PvP chaos?
