Baldur’s Gate 3 Players Are Hoarding Hundreds of Corpses in One Chest

The pair are still in Act 1, yet opening their body-filled chest already causes the game to lag.

Two Baldur’s Gate 3 players have turned their current playthrough into a grisly storage project. Instead of helping the game’s characters, the friends have been killing everyone they encounter and placing the bodies inside a chest at camp.

Player Matt, posting as “spectraIarrow,” described the run on July 22, 2026, explaining that the pair were nearing the end of Act 1 and had already filled the chest with so many corpses that opening it caused the game to lag.

An attached image showed hundreds of bodies packed into the container, with a tiny scrollbar suggesting that the chest held many more. The collection reportedly includes the Tiefling Grove’s residents, Wyll, Karlach’s severed head, the Goblin Camp’s inhabitants, and Halsin. The sheer number of stored corpses is already affecting performance, and the players still have most of the game ahead of them.

The run apparently began with a much more respectable character concept: one player had planned to create an Oath of Devotion Paladin with a guardian modeled after Lathander. That oath broke quickly, leaving the dream guardian visits rather awkward.

The stunt eventually reached Larian Studios founder and CEO Swen Vincke. Rather than condemning the murderous approach, Vincke joked that the pair’s achievement-hunting method should have earned an in-game reward.

“We should’ve made that an achievement – real funny,” Vincke wrote on July 29, 2026.

Adding an achievement for killing and storing every possible NPC would have created an absurd challenge, though it would also ask players to erase a huge portion of Baldur’s Gate 3‘s world. For now, the friends’ corpse-filled chest remains an unofficial test of how much punishment their save file can take.
