Larian Studios has revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3‘s mod scene has been downloaded more than 350 million times, with over 10,000 mods available to players, according to a community update on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 site. The studio launched official mod support in 2024 on PC and later extended those tools to consoles. Mods cover a wide range of changes, from purely cosmetic swaps to gameplay tweaks that add new spells, classes, playable races, items, and oddball conversions like vehicle-form Wild Shape or grenade launchers.
Some of the most visible creations have doubled as comedy and creativity showcases during Larian streams, and the developer has even highlighted fan mods on its channels. The scale of the community output helps explain why Larian can now point to a staggering aggregate download number. Many of the top mods are cosmetic or quality-of-life additions, but the community has also produced surprising gameplay tools and fixes. Mod authors have restored hidden scenes and patched little scripting oddities that never appeared in normal play, a trend documented in coverage of a recent restoration effort.
With official support in place and storefront-style access for players, the environment is set for more ambitious homebrew content. Larian’s focus will shift as the studio moves toward its next project, a transition the company has signaled in recent messaging to the community.
