Baba is You received a free content update on January 2, 2026, bringing new words, sprites, and modding tools to its level editor on PC.
The update is laid out in the Steam community post, which calls this “This will most probably be the final large update for BIY.” The changes appear aimed at creators: five new words have been added for custom levels – become, facedby, hold, happy, and angry – plus a set of new sprites including a fox, a bean, a hot dog, and a cactus.
In Baba is You, words are game rules. Players rearrange them on the level grid to change how objects behave. Adding words like happy and angry gives modders fresh hooks for rule-based puzzles and new interactions to explore.
The update builds on the game’s cross-platform level editor, which arrived in a free 2021 update and opened up a large custom level scene. Custom creations remain available from the editor’s featured section, and the new assets are clearly intended to expand what level makers can build.
This patch does not appear to add a large set of official levels; it focuses on tools and building blocks for the community instead. Years after release, the game still offers a distinct puzzle design that creators can bend into very odd shapes.
