Technology continues to surprise us in unexpected ways, and Asus is at it again. A new series of monitors that display stunning visuals and purify the air around them. Yes, you read that right! With the launch of the VU Air Ionizer monitors, we’re looking at a blend of functionality and innovation that might change your workspace experience.

The VU Air Ionizer lineup consists of three models: the compact 23.8-inch IPS panel Asus VU249HFI-W, the slightly larger 27-inch IPS Asus VU279HFI-W, and the expansive 34-inch VA Asus VU34WCIP-W. Each model comes equipped with a no-filter VU Air Ionizer. According to Asus, this ionizer can “remove up to 90% of airborne dust in three hours,” which sounds like a solid win for anyone who has ever battled allergies or simply wanted fresher air while gaming or working.

PATENTED AIR PURIFICATION TECHNOLOGY

“The ionizer has an effective coverage area of 1m³, purifying air throughout a workspace for comfortable productivity,” Asus mentioned. “With no filters required, ASUS VU Air Ionizer series monitors seamlessly combine air purification and display technologies in one streamlined design.” This clever combination could make your desk not just a place for gaming marathons but also a healthier environment to thrive in.

Monitor Size and Ratio Resolution Refresh Rate Panel Type
Asus VU249HFI-W 23.8-inch/16:9 1920×1080 100Hz VRR IPS
Asus VU279HFI-W 27-inch/16:9 1920×1080 100Hz VRR IPS
Asus VU34WCIP-W 34-inch/21:9 3440×1440 100Hz VRR Vertical Alignment

No matter which size you choose, all three models boast a refresh rate of 100Hz coupled with an impressive 1ms response time. The two smaller displays feature IPS (In-Plane Switching) panels providing 178° viewing angles, ideal for those intense gaming sessions when every pixel matters. Meanwhile, the ultrawide version offers a VA (Vertical Alignment) panel with similar viewing angles but slightly up the brightness to 300 nits.

If you’re wondering about pricing, here’s what to expect: The 23.8-inch model starts at $129.99, while the 27-inch display will run you $159.99. For those who crave that ultrawide experience combined with air purification, it’s priced at $359.99.

This is an intriguing step for Asus. Who knew gaming monitors could contribute to better indoor air quality?
