Astroneer Megatech troubleshooting report warns about mods and outlines hotfix plans

System Era posted a Megatech Troubleshooting Report on December 3, 2025 that walks through crash causes, platform parity, known bugs, and the studio’s hotfix schedule for Astroneer – Megatech. The report starts sayin that most launch-day crashes trace back to mods. Players running modded saves are likely to encounter immediate crashes, and the developer does not officially support mods, so the safest route is to remove mods and begin a fresh save if stability is required.

Hotfix 1 and Hotfix 2 are already referenced in the report and the team says it has a third hotfix in the works plus a larger update planned for early 2026. System Era lists the newest patch as version 1.36.43.0 on Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and Microsoft platforms, while the Nintendo Switch Megatech release is scheduled for early 2026. A closer look at Hotfix 2 shows fixes for a memory leak and multiplayer limit – Hotfix 2 fixes are covered in a separate note. The troubleshooting report calls out a handful of high-impact problems and gives interim guidance for affected players.

  • PS5 save imports can appear unresponsive. One root cause affects players outside the Americas, and another arises when PS4 saves are stored only in the cloud. System Era points players to the Astroneer blog guide on PS4-to-PS5 imports for step-by-step instructions – PS4 to PS5 import guide.
  • Xbox and Microsoft Store purchases may not grant the Megatech DLC after purchase. The studio labels this a high-priority issue and asks affected players to contact support with platform details and purchase evidence via support@systemera.net.
  • Mega-Component Printers on Megastructures can get partial resource nuggets stuck and may lose resources if a print is canceled once started. The report’s short-term advice is to not move any canisters and do not exit the game while mega printers are running.
  • Crashes and save problems include a crash when donating resources from a small soil canister to the Museum, an inability for some Xbox players to save progress while seated and using Save and Exit, and occasional save-file size reduction or partial terrain fixes when importing PS4 saves to PS5.
  • Multiplayer oddities reported by the community include duplicated automated shuttles that can transport players and items between copies (the community calls these “Quantum Entanglement Shuttles”), platforms not attaching to the Unidentified Satellite and gravity failing on it, and other multiplayer sync and crash reports the team is investigating.
  • Gameplay modules such as the Biodome’s Auto-Planter Mega Module can stop working; toggling the module off and on restores function for now.
  • Display issue on Xbox where parts of the screen appear darker or greyed out can often be resolved by toggling HDR off.

The report is not an exhaustive bug list but highlights the most common or severe problems the team has observed so far. For a compiled list of fixes released to date, System Era links players to the Megatech patch notes on the official blog. System Era also acknowledges player feedback about Megastructure recipe costs and the capacity of large canisters. The studio says it will increase Large Gas Canister and Large Fluid & Soil Canister capacities to better match lower-tier scaling and will monitor recipe costs for future adjustments.

Players experiencing issues should gather platform details, in-game names, and screenshots or logs where possible before contacting support. Share thoughts in the comments and follow us on X, Bluesky, and YouTube.
