The 2025 BAFTA Games Awards concluded with a flurry of accolades, and Astro Bot stole the show. This favorite game captured hearts throughout 2024 and took home an impressive total of five awards, including the highly sought-after title of ‘Best Game.’ Its success underscores its position as one of the standout titles in recent gaming history.
Astro Bot has claimed the BAFTA Awards for some iconic categories:
- Best Game
- Game Design
- Family
- Audio Achievement
- Animation
The event, held in London, showcased several other notable games. Still Wakes the Deep, another highlight of the evening, won three awards:
- New IP
- Performer in a Leading Role
- Performer in a Supporting Role
This particular title left quite an impression on me; its horror elements and survival tale aboard a Scottish oil rig made for gripping gameplay. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2, which had its share of triumphs, bagged awards for Music and Multiplayer aspects.
Hello Games’ Hellblade II won an award in Technical Achievement. Tales of Kenzera: ZAU also received recognition, taking home the award for Game Beyond Entertainment—an acknowledgment well-deserved given its compelling narrative.
I must say I was surprised by the Vampire Survivors winners’ selection for the Evolving Game; I had expected it to go to Hello Games instead. Newcomer Balatro secured the Debut Game, while Thank Goodness You’re Here brought home British Game honors.
Stay tuned if you’re curious about more insights from this year’s event! I enjoyed attending and will share exclusive interviews with key figures from the gaming spectrum.
