Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has recently overtaken Assassin’s Creed: Shadows in the daily player count on Steam, which might be a surprise given that Shadows is the latest release in the series. This shift highlights how player interest can vary even within the same franchise.
According to The Gamer, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey recorded a 24-hour peak of 6,137 players on Steam, surpassing Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, which peaked at 5,131 players during the same period.
Odyssey’s larger content offering, including multiple DLC expansions released over time, likely contributes to its sustained player base. Shadows, while newer, has just revealed its year 1 roadmap, promising new content and gameplay updates throughout 2025. The upcoming Claws of Awaji expansion might help boost its player numbers again later this year.
Other Assassin’s Creed titles also maintain daily player counts above 1,000 on Steam. AC Valhalla had a 24-hour peak of 2,272 players, while AC Origins reached 2,215. AC Unity and Black Flag follow with peaks of 1,374 and 1,037 players, respectively, showing that these older games still attract a steady audience.
