Arrowhead Studios pops up with some tantalizing hints about their next project. The creative brains behind Helldivers 2 are already at it again, planning their next big adventure. You know how it is, once you finish one game, it’s like jumping right back into the fray.
A recent social media update confirmed that Johan Pilestedt, the creative director of Helldivers 2, is hard at work on “the high concept” for an upcoming title. He took to Twitter to stir the pot and invite fans to share their thoughts about what they want to see in this mystery project.
The success of Helldivers 2, which launched almost a year ago and garnered heaps of praise (seriously, who doesn’t love blasting aliens?), has left many eagerly awaiting whatever Arrowhead has brewing. They’ve sold millions and snagged awards like candy on Halloween; it’s safe to say they’re riding high on this wave.
If you thought Arrowhead would sit back and rest on their laurels, think again! They’re busy sketching out plans for something fresh after the whirlwind that was Helldivers 2. In his recent Twitter post, Pilestedt asked:
“With 10 minutes to 2025. What are your expectations and desires for what the next Arrowhead game will be? I am working on the high concept, but I would love to hear your speculation.”

This guy knows how to engage with fans! The comment section exploded with ideas as players pitched everything from new mechanics to themes they’d love to explore. It feels good when developers open up a dialogue like this, like inviting everyone over for a gaming party!
One exciting suggestion came from a user who proposed a remake of the classic twin-stick shooter “Smash TV.” Pilestedt responded enthusiastically, revealing that such an idea had been floated ages ago! He even shared an image that teased a reimagined version:
“Smash-TV is a top-down reimagining of the classic arcade game of 1990. The game pits up to four contestants in a violent game show set in the distant future of 1999. The game focuses on the source inspiration for Smash TV to create a game filled with brutal action, death traps, and gladiator-inspired game-shows.”
You can practically hear gamers everywhere saying, “Take my money!” And wait, there’s more! Pilestedt also mentioned that they had sketched concepts for first-person experiences reminiscent of Star Fox. Talk about wanting variety!
