Bohemia Interactive released the Kolguyev update for ARMA Reforger today, Update 1.6, and it is the largest content drop the game has seen so far. The headline: a five-episode single-player campaign called Operation Omega, a new volcanic map in Kolguyev, revamped Conflict play under the new Headquarters Commander mode, plus a stack of weapons, deployables, and systems changes.
What Operation Omega and Kolguyev bring
Operation Omega is a five-episode campaign that puts players behind enemy lines on Kolguyev as part of a special forces team. There’s also an Air Support scenario that focuses on transport, fire support, and logistics missions for pilots and crew. Kolguyev itself returns reimagined in the Enfusion engine – a windswept, volcanic island with autumnal tones, hot springs, sulfur streams, and remnants of an old coal industry.
We previously covered the campaign reveal and its structure in more detail in our feature on the single-player campaign, which includes additional context on what to expect from the missions and pacing.
Conflict HQC – a commander role
The classic Conflict mode has been rebuilt into Headquarters Commander (HQC). One player can assume the Commander role and assign tasks to squad leaders, manage AI logistics, and direct the broader effort. Bases are no longer fixed objectives; they can be constructed nearly anywhere on the island, and resource management matters more thanks to a new supply scarcity system. Players still have a personal supply pool called Military Supply Allocation by Rank (MSAR) so individual loadouts do not instantly starve the whole team.
Arsenal and deployables
The armory grew. Expect new rocket types for the RPG-7, two new launchers (RPG-22 and RPG-75), wrapped versions of the M21 and ART-II, and hand-fired flares for night ops and marking. Clothing options include new camouflage patterns such as US Army Tiger Stripe and USSR TTsKO, plus some Soviet naval infantry uniforms.
Combat engineers get more tools to shape the battlefield: constructable sandbags, mortars, and static weapons that can be carried and set up in the field. Anti-personnel mines such as the M14 and PMN-4 are included for creating chokepoints, with the usual cautionary note about kit placement and friendly surprises.
Systems work and quality-of-life
- FIA rework – new FIA units, adjusted loadouts, and civilian fighters mixed in.
- Moving on vehicles – players can now climb onto flatbeds and fire while riding.
- HOTAS and peripheral support – preset HOTAS profiles added, with Logitech reactive lighting supported for supported peripherals.
- Environmental effects – foliage reacts to movement and wind now affects projectiles like bullets, rockets, and mortars.
- Field Manual expansion – dozens of new pages to explain the updated systems.
- Performance – hundreds of fixes, tweaks, and optimizations across the board.
